Bike Hike
Pump up your tires and put your helmets on for a bike hike along the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail. Join a naturalist for a 12-mile ride through the beautiful countryside enjoying the crisp fresh air, the birds and the scenery along the way. Bikers will start at Abshire Park, travel 6 miles to CR 20 intersection and turn around for a 6-mile return back to Abshire Park. We will also stop at Mooeyโs Ice Cream if they are still open.
Hiking Club
Join our hiking club to explore a different park trail every month, make new friends, and glimpse the bounty of nature around every curve and corner. Hiking Club meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 pm, March thru October. In October, we will meet at the Cobus Creek Shelter in Cobus Creek County Park. The hike is 1.25 miles, and the terrain is mostly flat

Learn new skills, care for the environment, meet new friends, and be a part of something big — sign up for a Volunteer Day! On 10/12, assist park staff in putting many of the gardens to bed for the winter. ย Plan to bring water, work gloves and your favorite garden tools. Advanced registration required.ย
Volunteer Day: Boot Lake Bittersweet Removal
Learn new skills, care for the environment, meet new friends, and be a part of something big — sign up for a Volunteer Day! On 11/16, assist park staff in removing the tangled vines of bittersweet from the park. ย Plan to bring water, work gloves and loppers (if you have them). Advanced registration required.
Holiday at the Mill
Horse-drawn carriages, cookies, and crafts are just a sampling of what visitors can look forward to at this free holiday celebration. Visitors can sample baked goods made with Bonneyville Mill flour at the One-Room Schoolhouse, snag some free recipes, as well as purchase their own for holiday baking. Kids will have the chance to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, and personally deliver their lists (from 10 am-2 pm). Seasonal crafts, carriage rides (weather permitting), and grain milling demonstrations will keep the whole family entertained. We will have LIVE REINDEER this year from 11-1. Spooky Night Hike
October is a great time to think about what goes bump in the night and have fun exploring the park after dark. Join a naturalist on a spooky night hike and enjoy activities like watching your friendโs head disappear right before your eyes, fishing for the illuminated sunfish, and discovering the power of your eyes with magic illusions.
Crossroads of Elkhart County Guided Tour
Walk through our Crossroads of Elkhart County exhibit with the museum staff who developed it! Staff will take you through this national award-winning exhibit that examines how our area got the name โElkhart,โ the contributions of the Miami and Potawatomi, the impact of European nations on the region, and influence the railroads have had on the community for over 170 years. Cost: $4/person at the door (12 & under are free)
