New Ways to Connect

They say in comedy that timing is everything. If that’s the case, then we might be in the middle of a sick joke. Get it? Stick with us as we try to turn those frowns upside down!

We want to give a shout out to our friends at the North Manchester Center for History who just received the Smithsonian exhibit Crossroad: Change in Rural America. The exhibit left here March 17 after setting attendance records for February and early March.

North Manchester is the fifth of six Hoosier venues hosting this exhibit, brought to Indiana by Indiana Humanities. The North Manchester Center for History received the exhibit just as everything in the state shut down. Our colleagues there get to do all of the work, invest all of the same sweat and all feel the same excitement as we did. But they will garner none of the return.

As communities across the globe adapt to slow the spread of COVID-19, we at the Elkhart County Parks invite you to engage with us online. Over the coming weeks the Naturalists, Bonneyville Mill staff and the Elkhart County Historical Museum team will be helping take the edge of our social distancing with fun, interactive online content.

Look for us on Facebook [@ElkhartCountyParks & @elkhartcountyhistoricalmuseum] and Instagram. You may also want to check out these virtual museum tours and animal live cams shared by our friends at the Indiana Historical Society.

When health professionals determine it is safe, please, please, please support culture and nature by visiting a museum, nature center, park, zoo, arboretum, science center or aquarium. These institutions and the hard-working people who staff them will need us to come back.
