Join us for a walk on the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail and encounter early winter birds in our county. Likely birds this time of year include cranes, bluebirds, juncos and raptors. We will show the feature film “Testament of Youth” based on the memoir of British WWI nurse, Vera Brittain. We will also remember Elkhart County men and women who fought and served in WWI on the day before the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day. Refreshments provided by Home Instead Senior Living.

– SOLD OUT –  Witness the spectacle of Sandhill Crane Migration during fall migration! Participants will be able to ride along with park staff on a tour to the Jasper Pulaski State Fish & Wildlife area to observe thousands of Sandhill Cranes gathering in a regional staging area in preparation for their migration to Georgia and Florida. We will stop on the way back for food and discussion.

Join Registered Yoga Teacher Amanda for an hour of empowering yoga in the parks. Enjoy guided practice welcoming of all skill levels in a relaxing park environment. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, bring water, and their own mats – a limited number of mats will be available for use.

In November, Yoga in the Parks will focus on gratitude with an open-air practice at Cobus Creek County Park.

Places of Elkhart: Coppes Commons

The Coppes Brothers factory was important to Nappanee and Elkhart County History. In this building, workers manufactured Hoosier Cabinets and also developed the Lazy Susan Cabinet construction. As the business fell in popularity and eventually closed, the building has survived and serves as a home for businesses and shops. This program will explore the building, revealing the history of this iconic building.
