Stories of Elkhart: Native Removal

As more and more settlers pressed west in the early 1800s, the Native people who had lived here for generations were being forced on to smaller and smaller parcels. Pressure for land continued to build, and in 1830, President Jackson signed into law the Indian Removal Act. Join us as we chronicle the removal of Native populations from this region and the lasting impacts still felt today.
