Flintlock & Tomahawk: A Living History Encampment

Located on the banks of the St. Joseph River.

Participants of Flintlock & Tomahawk, which has a timeline of 1750-1790, are Common Folk of the period, Blacksmiths, Hunting Pioneers, Farming Pioneers, Woodland Indians, British Military, American Military, Rangers, Militia and other period impersonations. Blanket trading and sutlers will
be on the grounds to offer their wares to the public.

Elkhart County Historical Museum:

The Elkhart County Historical Museum has one of the best county collections you will find in Indiana. The building, now known as the Rush Memorial Center, was formerly the Bristol/Washington Township school. The original portion of the building was built in 1903. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 and the collection consists of over 22,000 artifacts representing our county’s historical heritage. The museum has fourteen rooms which are set up to reflect various historical themes and time periods. The research facilities at the museum include an archival collection of government records and personal papers, and a working genealogical library.

 

 

The encampment will be held behind the Elkhart County Historical Museum in Cummins Park.

The Museum is located at 304 W. Vistula Street, Bristol IN.

Directions to the Elkhart County Historical Museum

From the 80/90 Toll Road Exit 101 turn left onto SR 15 N. At the stop sign, turn right onto SR 120
(Vistula Street.). The museum is located west of the stoplight on the north side of SR 120 (Vistula Street).

From Elkhart, IN: Go east on SR 120 to the town of Bristol, IN. SR120 becomes Vistula Street when you are inside the city limits. The museum is located on the north side of Vistula Street.
